No. 3 - St Matthias Anglican Church, Windermere
Here is my attempt at photographing one of the most photographed churches in Tasmania.
"Situated on the banks of the picturesque Tamar River, St Matthias was built in 1842 fulfilling a promise by Dr Matthius Gaunt to his young wife before they left England. When Dr Gaunt resolved to emigrate to Van Diemen’s Land in 1831, his wife was concerned that there may not be a church in the area where they would eventually make their home. Dr Gaunt promised that if there was not, he would build one for her. Consecrated in 1845, St Matthias is one of Australia’s oldest churches in continuous use since its foundation".
